Closed areas: Mungo Self Guided Drive Tour Road closed from Red Top lookout

Due to wet conditions the Mungo Self Guided Drive Tour Road is closed at Red Top lookout.

Belah campground remains closed.

This closure may be further extended or removed pending local conditions.

The Mungo lakebed (bike) trail is closed.

Trail closed signage is located on park.

The dual walking track and bike trail from Mungo Visitor Centre to Zanci Woolshed remains open for use.

Safety alerts: Variable condition of unsealed Council access roads

Council-managed access roads to Mungo National Park are unsealed and in variable condition. Before travelling on any unsealed roads, please check road condition reports for Balranald, Wentworth and Central Darling Shires. Do not travel on closed Council roads.

Closed areas: Kinchega National Park is closed on River Drive (1-29) and Tandou Road is closed

Kinchega National Park is closed on River Drive.  Campsites 1-29 are closed. Darling River camping is available ONLY at campsites 30-34.  The Tandou Road remains closed.   For further information please contact the Broken Hill NPWS office on 08 8084 2880.

Closed areas: Yanga campgrounds and picnic areas closed due to forecast wet weather

Campgrounds in Yanga National Park are closed due to previous rain event with more rain predicted. This closure affects the following locations:

 

- The Woolshed Picnic area

- Mamanga campground

- The Willows campground;

- Woolpress Bend campground

 

This closure is in effect until 17 July but may be extended pending local conditions.

Safety alerts: Red Alert - Blue Green Algae - Yanga Lake

There is currently a RED alert for toxic Blue-Green Algae for Yanga Lake. 

Regatta Beach Picnic Area, is still open but contact with the water should be avoided. Algae may be toxic to humans and animals. Contact with or use of water from red alert areas should be avoided due to the risk of eye and skin irritation. Drinking untreated or boiled water from these supplies can cause stomach upsets. Alternative water supplies should be sought or activated carbon treatment employed to remove toxins. People should not fish when an algal scum is present.

Safety alerts: Traffic Alert - Waugorah Road

There is currently major construction activity in Yanga National Park resulting in increased heavy haulage truck activity on the public road leading to Woolpress Bend Campground. Caution should be exercised to allow for this traffic. There are also sections of road-surface damage including bridge approaches. People accessing Woolpress Bend Campground should exercise caution and drive to the conditions.

    $8 per vehicle per day. Fees are payable through self-registration envelopes outside Mungo Visitor Centre. Different fees apply for commercial tour operators and vehicles with 8 seats or more.
