Fire bans: Park fire ban - Lower Darling area parks and reserves

A park fire ban is in place in this park and all Lower Darling area parks and reserves and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

  • Lake Drive, from Morton Boulka to Cawndilla campground
  • Cawndilla campground

Cawndilla campground is scheduled to re-open in the coming weeks.

Belah campground is closed until further notice due to road closures.

Road works are scheduled to begin in mid November. This closure remains in place until the works are completed.

Mungo self-guided drive tour road (from Red Top lookout) remains closed. Planning approvals have been completed and road works are schedule to begin in mid-November. These works will take some time to complete.

Mungo lakebed bicycle loop trail is currently closed. Maintenance on sections of the lakebed loop trail have commenced.

Other options for cycling include Walls Road and Zanci pastoral loop. These park roads are shared with vehicles, so please take care and cycle with caution.
