Closed areas: Mungo self-guided drive - partial closure

Mungo self-guided drive tour road (from Red Top lookout) remains closed. Road works have commenced to undertake cultural site protection and improvements to the road surface. These works will take some time to complete.

Mungo lakebed bicycle loop trail is currently closed. Maintenance on sections of the lakebed loop trail have commenced. 

Other options for cycling include Walls Road and Zanci pastoral loop. These park roads are shared with vehicles, so please take care and cycle with caution.

Closed areas: Mungo Main Campground and Mungo Shearer's Quarters closure due to predicted wet weather

Due to the predicted wet weather for Lower Western district Mungo Main Campground and Mungo Shearer's Quarters will be closed from Wednesday 25 May and reopen on Saturday 28 May. The park remains open, please continue to monitor the alerts page for any further closures. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

  • Mungo National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees: 

    $8 per vehicle per day. Fees are payable through self-registration envelopes outside Mungo Visitor Centre. Different fees apply for commercial tour operators and vehicles with 8 seats or more.
