Safety alerts: Unsealed Council access roads in variable condition

Council-managed access roads to Mungo National Park are unsealed and in variable condition. Before travelling on any unsealed roads, please check road condition reports for Balranald, Wentworth and Central Darling Shires. Do not travel on closed Council roads.

Closed areas: Mungo lakebed (bike) trail closed due to wet conditions

The Mungo lakebed (bike) trail is currently closed from Tuesday 15 August to Tuesday 31 October 2023 due to the wet conditions of the lakebed.

The dual walking track and bike trail from Mungo Visitor Centre to Zanci Woolshed remains open.

Safety alerts: Weed spraying

Please be aware field staff may be spraying weeds on park. This will not affect visitors being able to access the attraction however there may be some localised closures in place in the immediate area of activity. Signage will be in place during weed spraying.

  • in Mungo National Park in the Murray-Riverina region
  • Mungo National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees: 

    $8 per vehicle per day. Fees are payable through self-registration envelopes outside Mungo Visitor Centre. Different fees apply for commercial tour operators and vehicles with 8 seats or more.
