Closed areas: Area closed for emergency road works

Some parts of this park are closed from Wednesday 7 December to Friday 16 December 2022 while Hawke Head Drive is being upgraded. The emergency road works will be conducted between 0700hrs and 1700hrs Monday to Friday. Access to Tallow Beach campground for booked campers will be permitted at this time, drivers are asked to drive with caution.

There is no public access to Old Wagstaffe trail through private property. Signs show where public access is not permitted.

Some trails in Bouddi National Park will be closed for helicopter lift operations. The closure will be from 0700hrs until 1600hrs on Friday 9th December 2022. The areas affected include:

  • Stroms Trail
  • Mount Bouddi Walking track
  • Bouddi Coastal Walk between the junction of Mount Bouddi Walking track and Caves Bay.

The Bobbin Head bridge will be closed to vehicles from Monday 12 December 2022 to Friday 16 December 2022 for mandatory bridge repairs by Transport for NSW. There will be pedestrian only access across the bridge, as weight restrictions apply. Traffic control will be in place.

  • For access to Apple Tree Bay (ATB) enter via the Mount Colah entrance.
  • For access to Empire Marina enter via the North Turramurra entrance.
  • Empire Marina, Bobbin Inn Cafe, Gibberagong playground, ATB boat ramp and kiosk will remain open.

Closed areas: Warrah Trig Road closed to vehicles

Warrah Trig Road is closed to vehicles until further notice due to damage from ongoing rainfall events.

The road has a tendency to develop deep ruts and boggy sections, making it unsafe and impassable for vehicles.

The road is open to pedestrians and cyclists. However, please take care when traversing wet sections as they may be slippery.

Alternate pedestrian access to Warrah lookout is available via Pearl Beach to Patonga fire trail.

The road will be re-opened as soon as it is safe and repair work has been completed.

Safety alerts: North Mackerel track closed and Mackerel trail partially closed

North Mackerel track is permanently closed due to a potential risk of rockfalls and unstable cliff edges in the Great Mackerel Beach area.

The only designated land access to or from Great Mackerel Beach is via Mackerel track to the north, which intersects with Resolute track.

Due to land instability and risk to personal safety there is NO THROUGH or RETURN ACCESS to/from the south end of Great Mackerel Beach via The Basin or Mackerel Trail.

Due to land instability and risk to personal safety there is NO THROUGH or RETURN ACCESS to/from the west of Great Mackerel Beach via the North Mackerel track which is closed.

Please remember the risks associated with visiting natural areas including rock falls, unstable edges, falling branches and interactions with wildlife.

The section of Great North walk between Reservoir Road, Somersby and Karool Road, Mooney Mooney Creek is closed until further notice due to a flood damaged bridge.

This area will reopen as soon as it is safe.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is undertaking fire trail maintenance works in Brisbane Water National Park from Monday 19 September 2022 for a period of up to 6 months (pending suitable weather conditions).

The maintenance work will repair damaged drainage assets and infrastructure that supports and is essential to the ongoing operation of the trails.

Trails will remain open for the duration of the construction works, with adequate signage and diversions (if required) in place.

Berowra walking track, from Berowra to Apple Tree bay, including the Mount Ku-ring-gai access track, is closed until further notice.

There is a significant threat of rockfalls due to slope instability, caused by recent weather events. NPWS will further assess the track and carry out necessary repair works.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 August 2022 and 31 January 2023 in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Don’t touch baits or ejector devices.

All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.
