Safety alerts: Ironbark Road access to picnic area - Last 850m 4WD only

The last 850m along Ironbark Road (Crown Road) to access Ironbark picnic area is currently limited to 4WD vehicles only. This section is not suitable to conventional 2WD vehicles due to a severely eroded hill along the Crown Road. Visitors to this section of the park travelling by conventional 2WD vehicles will have to walk the last 850 metres to access to the start of the park and Ironbark picnic area.

Safety alerts: Red Hill Road and Prestons Ridge Road - roadworks

Essential roadworks are beginning on Friday 9 April, and will last for approximately 2 weeks.

The work is focused on the NPWS section of Red Hill Road from Red Hill Quarry south to the intersection of Old Campbells Point Road. The work on Prestons Ridge  Road will start from the corner of Red Hill Road and finish at the corner of Stephens Point Road.

Please be aware of warning signs and machinery on the road. Road conditions may be slippery after the previous rainfall events. The roads are not suitable for 2WD vehicles.

Closed areas: Campground Closures - Marramarra National Park

All campgrounds in Marramarra National Park will be closed from Tuesday 6 April until further notice due to dangerous conditions caused by recent flooding events across New South Wales. Extensive debris and contamination remains in the waterways and lands adjacent to the Hawkesbury River west of the Hawkesbury River Rail Bridge (Brooklyn). As per the published NSW Government Gazette Marine Notice, a maximum speed limit of 15 knots has been declared for these waters.

Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Central Coast Council is strongly advising visitors to not swim or make contact with local waterways as it may be detrimental to your health.

Water quality has been impacted by the recent flooding, resulting in high bacterial levels and debris washing up on our beaches.

Safety alerts: Road access in Jilliby State Conservation Area

All roads in Jilliby State Conservation Area are unsealed, and not readily accessible by 2WD vehicles. 4WD vehicles should be used at all times. Closed areas: Big Yango precinct closed

Some parts of Big Yengo National Park are closed for repair until Tuesday 1 March 2022 following significant storm and fire damage. Trails, fords, buildings and other infrastructure need to be repaired to ensure visitor safety and enjoyment.

The closed areas are:

  • Big Yango House
  • Blue Gums campground
  • Mountain Arm campground
  • Big Yango loop trail
  • Yango walking track

NPWS is working to reopen all campgrounds and accommodations where possible. However, some locations need to remain closed to ensure compliance with the current rules on public gatherings, or for other reasons such as fire or flood damage.

From 1 June 2020, all reopened campgrounds and campsites will require a booking to be made before you visit.

The section of Lemon Tree Forest Road, between Prickly Ridge Road and Yambo Forest Road, in Jilliby State Conservation Area is closed to vehicles. This closure will remain in place indefinitely due to severe erosion and 4WD vehicle damage.

Maculata fire trail west from Jilliby Road linking to Daniels Point fire trail and Watagan Forest Road are closed due to 4WD damaged roads and trails. There is no through road access across Little Jilliby Jilliby Creek in either direction.

Middle Ridge Road is closed from the intersection of Null Road. There is no vehicle or pedestrian access to Ravensdale Road.
