Other planned events: Notice of 1080 ground baiting program
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a ground baiting program from 30 July 2025 to 1 August 2025. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral Pigs.
The program will take place in the following Terry Hie Hie Aboriginal Area reserves:
- Terry Hie Hie
- Mission North
- Mission South
- Irrigappa
The program is designed to minimise the impact of feral pigs on native vegetation, wildlife and neighbouring properties.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Safety alerts: Washouts on Kaputar Road
There are significant washouts on the gravel section of Kaputar Rd in Mount Kaputar National Park.
Washouts can be harmful to vehicles and passengers. Please travel this section of road with caution and drive through washouts at very low speed.
This section of road is not managed by NPWS. Please direct any queries regarding the condition of the road to Narrabri Shire Council on 02 6799 6866 or council@narrabri.nsw.gov.au
