Closed areas: Parts of Morton National Park closed
Parts of Morton National Park will be closed until 12:00pm Tuesday 8 July 2025 due to impacts from the recent East Coast Low weather event. Conditions are being assessed by National Parks and Wildlife Service staff and the areas will be reopened as soon as possible.
The closed areas are:
- Lake Yarrunga campgrounds: Shoalhaven River Arm
- Lake Yarrunga campgrounds: Kangaroo River Arm
- Griffins Farm campground
- Gales Flat campground
- Griffins Farm fire trail/walking track
This alert may be extended if hazardous conditions continue beyond the planned re-opening time.
Note that Bendeela and Tallowa Dam Recreation Areas, managed by WaterNSW, will also be closed during this time.

Closed areas: Temptation Creek Single-track mountain bike trails closed.
All single-track mountain bike trails in the Temptation Creek Precinct of Royal National Park are closed from Tuesday 1 July to Monday 7 July 2025 due to wet and muddy trail conditions.
This closure is to prevent damage to recently upgraded trails. The closure will be reassessed on the Monday 7 July 2025 and may be extended if trail conditions remain wet.
Riding on fire management (4WD) tracks is still permitted, but please take care as they may be wet and slippery. All other previous wet weather closures of MTB Trails are lifted.

Heavy seas, swell and high winds are currently impacting our costal parks. Rock shelves, beaches and estuary crossings across may be dangerous and impassable. Exercise extreme caution and consider postponing your visit this year.
There has already been multiple deaths associated with rock fishing in similar conditions this year.
- Many creek crossings, roads and trails are closed and impassable due to severe rainfall causing dangerous conditions.
- Roads are likely to be cut off and there is a high risk of flash flooding
- high rainfall and storms / heavy rain, damaging winds and widespread flooding risks across the area.
- Emergency services are requesting that people avoid unnecessary travel.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service is undertaking essential upgrade works in Mimosa Rocks National Park within the Picnic Point campground.
The construction project includes replacing the fencing and bollards within the campground.
Construction works will commence Tuesday 10th June 2025 and are expected to be completed by Monday 15th July 2025 – subject to weather and construction timelines. For public safety, the Picnic Point campground will be closed during this time.
Alternative locations that provide a similar experience for park users include the Aragunnu and Middle Beach campgrounds.

Safety alerts: Gillards Beach access steps closed until further notice
The 5 southern beach access points and the day-use steps at Gillards Campground are currently closed due to severe erosion. Successive large seas have removed large amounts of sand from the beach resulting in these access points being unusable.
Park users staying in sites 1 to 28 should use the beach access steps to the north instead which is easily accessible via a short walk.

Waterfall Oval and Helipad will be used for periodic helicopter operations on weekends and some weekdays between 26th June and 24t July 2025 to support a Sydney Trains rail upgrade program . The oval will be used to store equipment and materials and the helipad will be used for slung loads to be flown into the rail corridor south of Waterfall Township.
Park visitors seeking to use the Uloola falls Fire Trail or Walking track from Waterfall Train station may be asked by crews working on the project to wait for short periods whilst slung loads are flown across the tracks. Delays will be minimal.

Closed areas: The Coast track - partial closure
Walking the full length of The Coast track from Otford to Bundeena or Bundeena to Otford is not currently possible due to several track closures along its length. These closures are necessary due to erosion, rockfall risk and ongoing track upgrade works.
Please note the following closures:
- The Garie to Little Garie section of The Coast track is closed due to hazardous rockfalls and erosion
- North Era campground is closed until further notice
- Garie Road, Garie Beach and the Garie precinct is closed until further notice due to damage and subsidence of the road surface. Walkers approaching from the north (e.g. from Wattamolla or Bundeena) should exit the track via Curra Moors track. Walkers approaching from the south can Exit to Garawarra Farm via the Burgh Ridge Track.
Bushwalker access is available for the following sections of The Coast track:
- South bound access - Bundeena to Curra Moors track via Wattamolla and return only. No access to Garie Beach.
- North bound access - Otford to Thelma Ridge Via Burning Palms and Era and return only. No access to Garie Beach.

Safety alerts: Wild Dog Baiting in Budawang National Park
NSW National Parks is doing a wild dog baiting program using 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baits in Budawang National Park. The program runs from Wednesday 25th June to Friday 31st October 2025.
This baiting program is in accordance with the 1080 Wild Dog Baiting provisions in the Pesticide Control (1080 Liquid Concentrate and Bait Products) Order 2017.
We are taking precautions to minimise the risk to domestic pets and other non-target species. Please remember, it is an offence under the National Parks and Wildlife Act to allow domestic animals into national parks and nature reserves. It's also an offence to interfere with the wild dog control program.
There will be 1080 baiting notification signs at track heads in each area, with the start and finish dates of the baiting program.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is conducting a continual and ongoing 1080 ground baiting program for the control of foxes from Thursday 12 December 2024 to Friday 8 August 2025.
The program targets target foxes in the Carrington Falls, Budderoo Plateau, Knights Hill and Barren Grounds areas. Bait stations are located on NPWS estate and Crown road reserves with permissions. Both buried baits and Canid Pest Ejectors are used in this program.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, particularly the threatened species within these areas.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is disposing of used 1080 baits and baiting products in an approved disposal pit on NPWS National Parks land within the Fitzroy Falls area.
The burial of used baits and products will occur from Thursday 12 December 2024 to Friday 8 August 2025. All bait material in the pit will be buried under at least 500mm of soil, and clear of waterways so as not to cause pollution of waterways. This is in accordance with the current Pesticide Control Order (1080 bait products).
There will be 1080 baiting signs at the entrance to the disposal pit site.
1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) is lethal to pets (including domestic dogs and cats) and working dogs. In the event of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance. Domestic pets, including dogs and cats, are not permitted in national parks or reserves.

Closed areas: Access to base of Belmore Falls prohibited
All access to the base of Belmore Falls is permanently closed as there is a risk of falling from the cliff edge and severe injury or death. This includes access from Hindmarsh and Belmore Falls lookouts and picnic areas.
Access is also closed to the top of Belmore Falls, including from the Belmore Falls Road causeway.
There is limited mobile phone reception in this area. You may not be able to call for help if you need it and access for emergency services is difficult.
The walk will remain permanently closed to the public to protect visitor safety.

Other planned events: Roadworks on Araluen Road impacting access to Deua River Campgrounds
Eurobodalla Shire Council (ESC) have advised they are undertaking road stabilisation works along multiple sections of Araluen Road causing long delays and required detours to motorists. The works require intermittent full closures at various points along the road.
These closures may impact how campgrounds along the road are accessed, with these works programmed through to the end of July 2025. During periods of total closures, the following campgrounds will need to be accessed via the Araluen road from Braidwood to the west -
- Bakers Flat Campground
- Dry Creek Campground
- Deua River campground

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a ground baiting program using fresh meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program will be ongoing and continuous from Monday 14th April to Wednesday 30th September 2025. The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
Baiting programs will be undertaken in:
- South East Forests National Park
- Coolumbooka Nature Reserve
- Bondi Gulf Nature Reserve
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Safety alerts: Cycling Hazards in Conjola National Park
Cycle routes in Conjola National Park may currently be unsuitable for some cyclists due to recent roadworks. There are many sections of large ballast rock that have been used in boggy areas that may be difficult for cyclists to negotiate. It is hoped these will silt up over time and be more suitable for cyclists.

Safety alerts: Trailer access prohibited on some fire trails
The use of trailers is prohibited on the following trails in Deua National Park:
- Dampier Mountain trail
- Oulla Creek trail
- Minuma Range trail
- Merricumbene trail
- Mongamula trail
- Dry Creek trail
It is an offence to tow trailers on these trails. The penalty for towing trailers on these trails is a $300 penalty infringement notice, or higher if the matter is taken to court.
Trailer access to Bendethera is available from Moruya via Little Sugarloaf Road and Bendethera trail. From Braidwood, this increases travel time by about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from 3rd March 2025 to 3rd September 2025. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral animals wild dogs and/or foxes.

Safety alerts: River crossing to access Big Hole walking track - extreme caution advised
Access to The Big Hole walking track requires a river crossing of the Shoalhaven River.
During periods of rain, water levels of the river crossing may become too deep and fast flowing to pass, and extreme caution is advised. Visitors should not attempt crossing the river during major weather events or during prolonged periods of rain, when river levels can rise rapidly.

Safety alerts: Potential difficulties for cyclists navigating Beehive Walking Track
Cyclists undertaking the Fitzroy Falls to Kangaroo Valley cycling route are advised that there may be difficulties riding Beehive Walking Track, which provides one of two access routes to Beehive Campground. The original track has been closed to vehicles with many large logs impeding access. Alternative riding access to Beehive Campground is possible via Jack's Corner Road and Beehive Point Road.
This closure only affects cyclists wishing to access Beehive Point Campground. Walkers are not impacted by this closure and cyclists may choose to walk the trail with their bikes, lifting them over logs when required.

Cullendulla Beach is changing shape from the impacts of coastal erosion.
During high tide, walking access via the beach into Cullendulla Creek Nature Reserve from the carpark on Myamba Parade may be restricted by the ocean.
While in the reserve, visitors should continue to monitor conditions and time their walk with a lower tide.
Tide predictions for Batemans Bay are found on the Bureau of Meteorology website.

Due to extensive damage to infrastructure and trees during the 2019/2020 fires, the Penance Grove Boardwalk and Walking Track have been permanently closed. Any reference to these areas on third party websites is old content and now incorrect. Due to the extent of damage and complete loss of all infrastructure, there are currently no plans to reinstate the area.
The Corn Trail walking track, Dasyurus picnic area and Mongarlowe River picnic area all remain available.

Bingi Dreaming track crosses openings to several Intermittently Closed and Open Coastal Lakes and Lagoons (ICOLLS). Openings of these lakes and lagoons are often unpredictable and can be quite dramatic. Please be aware that although lakes are usually only open for short periods (weeks), they can be impassable when open.
The Coila Lake opening is at the southern end of Bingi Dreaming track. Please check if this lake is open before you set out. If the opening is impassable, you won't be able to access the village of Tuross to complete the walk.

Camping is closed indefinitely at the following campgrounds due to fire damage and flooding. The closed campground include (open for day-use only):

Please note that the campgrounds will remain open for day use. Some campgrounds may be affected by flood debris following heavy rain, and there may be steep sand walls to access sites.
Please be cautious and move onto another campground if safety issues occur. There have been many changes to campgrounds along the river, including reduced campground capacity. Some sites also have extensive regrowth following fires.

Please use extreme caution if traversing the river crossings and check weather conditions regularly prior to your trip in this area.
During periods of rain, water levels of the river crossings in to the Bendethera Valley campgrounds may become too deep and fast flowing to pass, and extreme caution is advised. Visitors should not attempt crossing the river in vehicles to access the campgrounds during major weather events or during prolonged periods of rain, when river levels can rise rapidly. It is never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters. You should check the weather forecast and NPWS website for advice prior to setting out to this remote campground, and if severe weather is forecast, reconsider your trip.
