Closed areas: Boyds Tower precinct closed for upgrades

The Boyds Tower precinct will be closed from Monday 21 February 2022 until December 2022 for upgrades.

Light to Light walk will remain open. Boyds Tower will reopen in December 2022.

Bittangabee campground and picnic area is closed from Tuesday 14 June to Thursday 15 December 2022 for upgrades.

Closed areas: Edrom road closed for road works for two hours 16.12.22 from 09:30 to 11:30

Edrom Road will be closed by Forestry Corporation NSW from 09:30 to 11:30 on 16 December 2022. Try to align travel plans into and out of Beowa National Park South precinct to avoid this two hour delay. Bewoa National Park will remain open. Check other closures for individual visitor sites.

Lennard's Island Track, Car Park & Walking Track will be closed due to upgrade works on the walking track from 16.01.23 to 17.04.23.

Safety alerts: Lennard's Island Car Park & Walking Track - Planned Work

Lennard's Island Walking Track and car park. Work is underway to upgrade the walking track. One car park space is closed to public for material storage. Workers will be present on the walking track and carpark.

NPWS will be undertaking a weed control program at Severs Beach, Haycock Point from Wednesday 23 November to Friday 9 December 2022.

The program will be targeting arum lily and involve the use of Metsulfuron methyl, Picloram and Aminopyralid. 

Visitor areas will remain open and signage will be in place to indicate where and when work is being undertaken.

Safety alerts: Beowa National Park access

Access into Beowa National Park via Green Cape Road is closed. All 2WD and 4WD vehicles can enter the park via Duckhole Road.

To get to Duckhole Road:

  • Travel approximately 18km south of Eden along Princes Highway
  • Turn left onto Edrom Road and travel for approximately 12km, then turn right onto Duckhole Road.

Duckhole Road supplies access to Saltwater Creek campground and the Green Cape Lighthouse precinct.

NPWS Field staff will be completing potholing roadworks at Saltwater Creek campground from Monday 29 November to Thursday 1 December 2023.

Please note the campground will remain open to campers but there will be some machinery noise whilst works are being completed.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a baiting program using fresh meat, manufactured baits and CPEs containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes and wild dogs. The program will be ongoing and continuous from Friday 1 July to Saturday 31 December 2022.

The baited parks, reserves and state conservation areas include:

  • Araleun Nature Reserve 
  • Badja Swamps Nature reserve
  • Beowa National Park, formerly Ben Boyd National Park
  • Deua National Park
  • Eurobodalla National Park
  • Gulaga National Park
  • Kooraban National Park
  • Majors Creek State Conservation Area
  • Mimosa Rocks National Park
  • Monga National Park and State Conservation Area
  • South East Forest National Park 
  • Wadbilliga National Park

There will be signs at all baiting locations.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Road closures for annual road maintenance grading

Some roads in Mimosa Rocks National Park will be closed to all visitors for short periods from Monday 14 November to Saturday 3 December 2022. This is due to the annual road grading program. Traffic control signs and barriers will be in place. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. The affected roads are:

  • Aragunnu Road - works completed, drive to road conditions
  • Picnic Point Road - works completed, drive to road conditions
  • Bithry Inlet Road (Part Penders Road) - works completed, drive to road conditions
  • Myer House access  - works completed, drive to road conditions
  • Middle Beach Road - works completed, drive to road conditions
  • Gillards Road - proposed closure from 28 November 
  • Nelsons Beach Road - proposed closure from 23 November

For visitor safety, campfires and solid fuel fires (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) are not permitted at Middle Beach campground or picnic area.

The use of gas-fired, liquid fuel and electrical appliances will be permitted where:

  • The appliance is under the direct control of an adult
  • The appliance is placed or located in an area where there is no combustible material within 2m
  • There is an adequate water supply to extinguish fire, should it start next to the appliances
  • It is not a Total Fire Ban.
