NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 August 2026 and 31 January 2027 in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
Do not touch baits or ejector devices. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Safety alerts: Painting of Apple Tree Bay toilets
The toilets at Apple Tree Bay will be painted from Tuesday 6 October to Tuesday 13 October 2026, weather dependent.
One side of the toilets will be painted at a time, allowing for use as unisex toilets.

Fire bans: Park Fire Ban - Wollemi-Yengo Reserves
A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
However the following campgrounds are exempt:
Dharug National Park
Mount Royal National Park
Yengo National Park
- Blue Gums Campground
- Mountain Arm Campground
- Yengo House
- Finchley Campground
- Mogo Campground
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Other planned events: Notice of 1080 aerial baiting program
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program from 12 September 2026 to 20 September 2026. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.
The program will take place in Watagans, Popran and Brisbane Water National Parks.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Muirs Lookout Picnic Area on Prickly Ridge Road has been closed due to ageing infrastructure, obstructed lookout views to the coast and very low public visitation. Alternative picnic facilities are located nearby in Olney State Forest and Watagans National Park. Further information on other places to visit can be obtained via the NPWS or Forestry Corporation websites.

Muogamarra Nature Reserve is only open to the public for 6 weeks every year, around spring time.
Due to the sensitive nature of the reserve, access is restricted at other times to approved educational and research activities only.

Other planned events: Notice of fire trail maintenance works - Pearl Beach to Patonga Fire Trail
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service are undertaking fire trail maintenance works on the Pearl Beach to Patonga Fire Trail.
Maintenance will repair damaged surfaces, drainage assets and essential trail infrastructure, as well as maintain vegetation clearances.
The trail will remain open throughout the works, though short delays may occur. Please follow all safety signage and directions from roadwork personnel.

Group camping (more than four people) is only permitted at the Mt Wondabyne remote bush camp within Brisbane Water National Park.
Group camping is not permitted elsewhere in the park due to impacts from pollution, informal campsite creation and damage to native vegetation.
Please note: Mt Wondabyne remote bush camp is not a bookable campsite and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

Conservation works are underway on the Devines Hill section of the Old Great North Road, near Hangman's Rock. The Devines Hill section is from Settlers Road to Shepherds Gully Road.
Plant machinery will be operating from Monday to Friday. Do not approach machinery while under operation. The trail may be uneven and narrow during this time. Walk carefully and follow the directions of signs and NPWS staff and contractors.

Part of Piles Creek Loop Walking Track will be closed while rockfall investigations and mitigation works are undertaken.
The closed area is between the suspension bridge and Bundilla Lookout on the western side of Piles Creek.
Areas that will remain open are:
- Piles Creek Loop Walking Track on the eastern side of Piles Creek
- Access to the Great North Walk from Girrakool Picnic Area
- Bundilla Lookout

Warrah Trig Road is closed to vehicles due to an increase in illegal activities throughout the area.
The road will remain closed until investigations are completed and further recommendations are made.
