Narrabri Shire Council are conducting roadworks on Kaputar Road within Mount Kaputar National Park from 8am Saturday 29 November until 5pm Friday 5 December 2025.
Both Mount Kaputar National Park and Kaputar Road remain OPEN. Please proceed with caution and obey all road signage.

Safety alerts: Sara River From Ballards Flat for Area Operations
The Sara River at Ballard's Flat (Paddy Ross Trail) in Guy Fawkes River National Park will be closed for the month of December for the area to complete park operations. Do not enter this area for your own safety and for the safety of our staff.

Closed areas: The Governor Summit walking track closed for upgrades
The Governor Summit (Corrunbral Borawah) walking track is closed until further notice for upgrades to the elevated walkway sections.
The Governor lookout walking track (including the carpark and lookout platform) is now reopened, however access past the barricade to The Governor Summit walking track is prohibited.

Fire bans: Park Fire Ban
A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfires and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Other planned events: Closure of Old Grafton Road
Clarence Valley Council are conducting extensive roadworks closing the Old Grafton Road (Old Glen Innes Road) between Mann River Campground and Dalmorton Campground. Mann River Campground is accessible from the Glen Innes (Western) side of the Old Grafton Road, whereas Dalmorton must be accessed from Grafton (Eastern) side. The Dalmorton Tunnel is closed during this time.
Please be aware this closure may add significantly to travel time to and from the campground. At this stage works are scheduled until the end of December 2025.
