Closed areas: Road Closures - Murray Valley National & Regional Park

The following areas are closed within Murray Valley National Park and Murray Valley Regional Park until further notice.

The following roads are currently closed:

  • Dudleys Road
  • Tin Hut Road, and
  • Quambies Road

The Tin Hut Firewood Collection area is therefore inaccessible.

Please also note that the following campgrounds within the Milllewa Campgrounds: Regional Park are only accessible via Clay Island Road. There is no access via the Millewa River Road entry near the Murray River:

  • Brown Bottle Bend
  • Clay Island
  • Lower Sandy
  • Chimney Creek
  • Ash Tree
  • Snows 
  • Deadwood

Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters. Roads into and throughout the park are / may also be closed. Check Live Traffic NSW. For assistance during severe weather visit the NSW SES website. In life-threatening situations call emergency services on Triple Zero (000).

Other incidents: Blue Green Algae Alert - RED!

There is currently a Blue Green Algae RED Alert for Yanga Lake. The water may have a green tinge and musty or organic taste and odour.

People should avoid recreational activities such as swimming, water skiing, canoeing and any other activity that brings them into contact with this waterbody until the red alert warning is lifted.

People should avoid consuming untreated water from this waterbody and prevent pets and livestock from drinking this water.

Safety alerts: Variable condition of unsealed Council access roads

Council-managed access roads to Mungo National Park are unsealed and in variable condition. Before travelling on any unsealed roads, please check road condition reports for Balranald, Wentworth and Central Darling Shires. Do not travel on closed Council roads.

There are numerous access routes to Mungo National Park and conditions can change quickly due to the weather.

The Mungo lakebed (bike) trail is closed.

The dual walking track and bike trail from Mungo Visitor Centre to Zanci Woolshed remains open for use.

The Mungo Self Guided Drive Tour is closed at Red Top lookout.

The Walls Road and Pastoral Loop are open to the key attractions of Mungo lunette (Walls of China), Red Top lookout boardwalk and Zanci homestead/woolshed precinct.

Belah campground remains closed.
