Closed areas: Northern campgrounds closed

The northern campgrounds in Yanga National Park are closed due to rains. The closed areas include:

  • Woolpress Bend campgrounds
  • The domestic firewood collection area

All areas will be reassessed on Friday 18th June 2021.

Closed areas: Mungo self-guided drive - partial closure

Mungo self-guided drive tour road (from Red Top lookout) remains closed. Detailed environmental assessments and planning needs to be conducted before maintenance works can be completed.

This closure will remain in place until further notice.

Safety alerts: Mungo bicycle loop trail

Mungo bicycle loop trail is currently closed to enable trail maintenance repair works. NPWS staff are planning to carry out the works during winter.

Other options for cycling include Walls Road and Zanci pastoral loop. These park roads are shared with vehicles, so please take care and cycle with caution.

The Benarca precinct of Murray Valley Regional Park will be closed from Thursday 20 May until further notice for hazardous tree works.

During this time all campgrounds will be unavailable and public access limited to protect visitor safety. For more information please contact the local area office on 03 5483 9100.

The following campgrounds within Murray Valley National and Regional Parks will be closed to enable hazardous tree works:

  • Groutches Beach, Woperana is closed from Monday 31 May to Thursday 3 June 2021
  • Smithers Beach, Barooga is closed from Wednesday 2 June to Friday 4 June 2021
  • Quicks Beach, Cottadidda is closed from Monday 7 June to Thursday 10 June 2021
  • Kerrs Beach, Cottadidda is closed from Monday 7 June to Thursday 10 June 2021
  • Ngawe Beach, Cottadidda is closed from Monday 7 June to Friday 18 June 2021
  • Murray Park Campground, Cottadidda is closed from Monday 7 June to Friday 18 June 2021

Closed areas: Yanga National Park office closed - still taking phone calls and emails

Yanga National Park office is currently closed to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions. You can still contact us by phone or email for information.

Visitors can still access the historic Yanga Homestead precinct between 8.30am and 4.30pm daily. A self-guided tour offering exclusive access inside the homestead is available from Balranald Visitor Information Centre or Balranald Caravan Park. Call the visitor information centre on 1800 444 043 for more information.
