Closed areas: Mungo track detour due to flood damage

The boardwalk between Tamboi trail and Brambles Green campground is closed due to flood damage.

You'll need to follow the detour on Mungo track at Mungo Brush. Please follow the walking track to the beach and then walk south for 4km. Take the slashed management trail which connects the beach to Mungo Brush Road to re-join Mungo track route.

Closed areas: Box Beach carpark night closure

Box Beach carpark is closed to vehicles from 10pm to 5am daily. The gate will be locked during these times.

The Box Beach access road is also closed to vehicles during this period.

Other planned events: Changed pedestrian access on Marine Drive, Fingal Bay

Pedestrian access may be changed on Tomaree Coastal Walk between southern Fingal Bay Beach and Barry Park from October to December 2023, while landslip repair works are undertaken by Port Stephens Council on Marine Drive.

Pedestrian conditions and detours may change during works. Please walk safely and follow the directions of signs and workers at the site. For more information, check the Port Stephens Council website.

Closed parks: Corrie Island Nature Reserve closed for shorebird nesting season

Corrie Island Nature Reserve is closed from Friday 22 September 2023 to Sunday 31 March 2024 for the protection of beach-nesting shorebirds.

Corrie Island is an important breeding site for endangered little terns and pied oystercatchers. The island is closed to visitors for the duration of the nesting season to reduce disturbance that can cause egg or chick deaths.

During the closure period visitors may not land anywhere on Corrie Island, and only NPWS staff and authorised volunteers are allowed on the island. Pest control activities may be undertaken on the island during this time.

Ocean Rocks track on Tomaree Head is closed beyond the picnic area from Monday 8 May 2023 until further notice.

This track has a highly unstable landslip. Please do not use this track under any circumstances.

  • Myall Lakes National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $8 per vehicle per day.

    The park has coin/card operated pay machines at Mungo Brush campground. Day passes are also available from the Manning Great Lakes Area Office, Bulahdelah Visitor Information Centre and the Hawks Nest Newsagency. You can also pay for your visit via the Park’nPay app.

    Bombah Point ferry fees may also apply (cash payment only).
