Closed areas: Parts of Myall Lakes National Park near Mungo Brush are closed due to bushfire

Some parts of this park are closed due to bushfire.

The closed areas are:

  • All campgrounds, picnic areas and the section of Mungo Walking Track between the Broadwater Ferry at Bombah Point Road to the southern Myall Lakes National Park boundary on Mungo Brush Road (north of Myall River Camp).
  • Section of Mungo Brush Road between Bombah Point Ferry and Lemon Tree Beach access.
  • Mungo Beach Access leading to Mungo Beach
  • Bombah Point Ferry is closed to the general pubic (emergency vehicles permitted).
  • lower Myall River (between Bombah Broadwater and Tea Gardens)

To ensure public safety, do not enter the closed areas. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Fire bans: Park Fire Ban, Wallingat, Myall Lakes and Tapin Tops National Parks

A park fire ban is in place in this park from midnight Thursday 18th December 2025 and remains in effect until midnight Saturday 28th February 2026, unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Contractors will be working on Tomaree Coastal Walk near Big Rocky Trail from Wednesday 4 February to Wednesday 11 February 2026. Please follow directional signage and follow any advice from staff or contractors.

Closed areas: Korsmans Trail and Korsmans campground temporary closure for road works

The following areas in Myall Lakes National Park will be closed for road upgrade works from Tuesday 27 January to Wednesday 11 February 2026:

  • Korsmans Trail
  • Korsmans Landing campground and picnic area
  • Korsmans boat ramp
  • Cutlers Cottage

Visitors should also expect minor traffic disruptions outside of these dates. Please drive safely and follow the directions of roadwork signs and traffic control.

Safety alerts: Tomaree National Park Beaches Unsafe for Swimming.

Tomaree National Park beaches are not suitable for swimming due to hazardous surf conditions.

  • Beaches in this park are not patrolled by lifeguards and can have strong rips and currents.
  • The safest place to swim is at a patrolled beach, between the red and yellow flags.
  • There are patrolled swimming areas at Fingal Bay Surf Club, southern end of One Mile Beach and Birubi Beach at Anna Bay. Check the Beachsafe website to find the nearest patrolled beaches.

Closed parks: Corrie Island Nature Reserve closed for shorebird nesting season

Corrie Island Nature Reserve is closed from Friday 1 August 2023 to Sunday 31 March 2026 for the protection of beach-nesting shorebirds.

Corrie Island is an important breeding site for endangered little terns and pied oystercatchers. The island is closed to visitors for the duration of the nesting season to reduce disturbance that can cause egg or chick deaths.

During the closure period visitors may not land anywhere on Corrie Island, and only NPWS staff and authorised volunteers are allowed on the island. Pest control activities may be undertaken on the island during this time.

Closed areas: Yacaaba Headland walking track partial closure

Yacaaba Headland walking track, in southern Myall Lakes National Park at Hawks Nest, is open to a viewing point. Beyond this point the track is closed for visitor safety.

Yacaaba Spit track remains open and people can continue to walk along the beach.

  • Park entry fees:

    $8 per vehicle per day.

    Day passes are available from a card operated pay machine at Mungo Brush campground or from the Manning Great Lakes Area Office. You can also pay for your visit via the Park’nPay app. You’ll need a Day Pass or Annual Pass when visiting the park.

    Bombah Point ferry fees may also apply (cash payment only).
