Closed areas: Polblue Swamp Track closed for essential maintenance

Polblue Swamp Track will be closed from 27 March - 2 April 2023 to allow for essential tree management to be undertaken as well as bridge maintenance works. Polblue Camping Area will remain open.

Closed areas: Polblue Campground closed for maintenance

Polblue campground will be closed for maintenance from 5pm Sunday 2nd April through to 5pm Thursday 6th April 2023 - re-opening for Easter.

Polblue picnic area and Polblue Swamp walk will both remain open during this period.

Closed areas: Gummi Falls campground closed for upgrade

March 2023 Update: Works are progressing well with the current weather conditions. New toilet facilities have been installed and the re-modelling of the campground is well underway. Picnic and parking area is also progressing well.

Gummi Falls campground is closed from Saturday 1 October 2022 for upgrades - the length of this closure is very weather dependent.

This closure also means there is no vehicle access to Bullock Brush, Tugalow and Thunderbolts (between Barrington Tops Forest Road and Pheasants Creek Road) trails.

Closed areas: Barrington Trail closed south of the Barrington Tops Forest Rd for essential road works

Barrington Trail, south of the Barrington Tops Forest (Scone) Rd, will be closed to vehicles, motorbikes and bicycles from 23 January to 6 April 2023 to allow for essential road works to be undertaken.

This affects vehicle access to both Little Murray and Junction Pools Campgrounds, and hence they will also be closed during this period

The trail will re-open for the Easter weekend and then NPWS will close it again until the end of April to allow the works to be completed - re-opening is of course weather dependant.

Bushwalkers can still access the area during this time, however they will need to be mindful that trucks and heavy equipment are operating on the Barrington Trail.

Safety alerts: Williams Top Road closed

Williams Top Road has been closed by Forestry Corporation of NSW (FCNSW) due to a landslip. The closure affects access to the following areas in this park:

  • Lagoon Pinch picnic area
  • Corker trail
  • Wombat Creek campground
  • Careys Peak (via Corker trail)
  • Rocky Crossing walk

For more information on the closure visit the FCNSW website. The road re-opening date is not known at this stage.

Alternate access via Chichester State Forest (Allyn River) may be available but is subject to regular flooding and varied road conditions.

Closed areas: Phytophthora quarantine area - Barrington Tops National Park

Phytophthora is a mould that causes dieback in plants. It's been found on the plateau in Barrington Tops National Park, predominantly on the Watergauge trail between Beean Beean and Black Swamp. The affected area is under quarantine with absolutely no visitor access.

Phytophthora is readily spread by mud carried by walkers' shoes and mountain-bike tyres. There are boot wash stations across the plateau for walkers to use, to ensure their boots 'Start clean, Stay clean'.
