Fire bans: NSW NPWS Riverina Area - Solid Fuel Fire Ban (SFFB) Commences October 9, 2023

A park fire ban is in place in the parks in the Riverina Area from midnight Sunday October 8, 2023 and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Expect short access delays in the Murrumbidgee Valley National & Regional Parks. 

Barrier gates will be installed over the month of February 2024.
These gates will only be closed during the installation period, once cement has settled and construction is complete gates will open on park. 

Gates will only be closed when NPWS staff deem the roads unsafe, if the parks have experienced a lot of wet weather and or if maintenance works are being conducted on park.

Closed areas: Campgrounds closed due to recent flood damage

The following campgrounds is CLOSED, due to flood damage.

Please refer to the campground map when you book online. 

  • Narrandera North - Koalas Hut 

Flood damage includes, eroded river banks, washouts and sinkholes making it hard to access the campground and unsafe to camp.

These areas will re-open as soon as they are safe. Penalties apply for non-compliance
