Closed areas: Pest control operation
There will be closures in Lane Cove National Park for pest control operations targeting wild rabbits using firearms at the following times:
- 10pm Thursday 4 December to 2am Friday 5 December 2025
- 10pm Thursday 11 December to 2am Friday 12 December 2025
If operations are impacted by wet weather, they will continue from 10pm Monday 15 December to 2am Tuesday 16 December 2025.
The following areas will be closed:
- All picnic areas and walking tracks along Max Allen Drive.
- The Great North Walk between Lady Game Drive and Allen Park.
- All picnic areas along Riverside Drive (between Plassey Road and Fullers Bridge).
- Riverside Walking Track between Deburghs Entrance Station and Lane Cove River Weir.
- Riverside Drive Between Lane Cove Road and Lane Cove River Weir.
Do not enter the park under any circumstances. Signs will be placed at all entrances during the closure period.

Maintenance works will be undertaken on the Basin trail and Mackerel trail from Wednesday 19 November until Friday 28 November 2025. Temporary closures are in place during this time.
Contact the site supervisor with the phone number on site fencing if access for school groups or pre-booked camping is required.
Please follow all signage and instruction from NPWS staff and contractors.
No closures are in place over the weekend.

Closed areas: Berowra walking track partial closure
Berowra walking track is partially closed from Apple Tree Bay to the Mt-Ku-ring-gai access track until further notice. . There continues to be a threat of rockfalls and foreshore slumps due to slope instability caused by previous weather events. NPWS is updating detailed assessments in order to undertake essential repair works.
Berowra walking track from Berowra Station to Mt Ku-ring-gai remains open.

Closed areas: Duckholes picnic area car park closure
The carpark at Duckholes picnic area will be used to locate a Transport for NSW site compound for critical road safety works on McCarrs Creek Road. Works will take place between Sunday 23 November and Friday 19 December 2025.
There will be limited parking available during this time.

Drainage works will be undertaken along 2 sections of North Head Scenic Drive near the gate at the Quarantine Station entrance for the week commencing on 17 November 2025. The works will be confined to the existing road table drains and will involve removal of silt and other material to maintain the drain capacity and prevent stormwater from flowing out onto the road pavement and damaging the surface. The road will remain open and traffic control will be in place.

Apple Tree Bay pontoon is closed for critical safety repair work. It will remain closed until 5th December 2025 or until repaired.
Apple Tree Bay boat ramp and canoe launch remain open. There is no alternative tie-off or loading facility at this location, please adjust your plans as needed.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 August 2025 and 31 January 2026 in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Don’t touch baits or ejector devices. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Closed areas: Somersby Falls walking track closed for upgrade
Somersby Falls walking track, including access to the middle and bottom waterfalls will be closed until 12 December 2025 while the track is upgraded.
The picnic area and carpark will remain open during the works.
Consider visiting the nearby Girrakool picnic area less than 5 minutes away which also has waterfalls, walking tracks and a well established picnic area.

Safety alerts: Periodic closures of Wyrrabalong National Park (North) for fox control shooting operation
Parts of Wyrrabalong National Park (North) will be closed for periods within a date range of Monday 16th June 2025 to Wednesday 30th December 2025 for fox control night shoot operations preventing localised economic impacts and protecting biodiversity assets within the park.
When active, the shoot operation area will be delignated by signage advising visitors “do not enter” at any time during the night-time operation.

Part of Piles Creek Loop Walking Track will be closed until 30 June 2026 while rockfall investigations and mitigation works are undertaken.
The closed area is between the suspension bridge and Bundilla Lookout on the western side of Piles Creek.
