Closed areas: Willandra accommodation closed

On-park accommodation in Willandra National Park is closed from Friday 7 August to Friday 6 November 2020 due to COVID-19. The closed sites are:

  • Willandra Cottage
  • Willandra Men’s Quarters

All main visitor areas will remain open. Willandra campground will remain open.

Other planned events: Aerial pest management program - park closed

This park will be closed to all visitors from Wednesday 21 October to Saturday 31 October 2020 for an aerial pest control operation. This program will target deer, goats, pigs and foxes, and aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including threatened species.

Other planned events: Notice of 1080 baiting - parks closed

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting an aerial baiting program using meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral foxes. The program will be conducted between Monday 28 September and Wednesday 30 September 2020 in Yathong Nature Reserve, Nombinnie Nature Reserve, Nombinnie State Conservation Area and Round Hill Nature Reserve.

The reserves will be closed during this time frame.

Readily identifiable 1080 poison signs have been positioned at trail entry points as well as other appropriate locations throughout the reserve.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

NPWS will be undertaking road maintenance activities in various parts of Kalyarr National Park over the next 6-month period. This will require road closures and public access restrictions as the maintenance program moves around the park. Store Creek picnic area, walking track and access road of Cocoparra National Park are closed for site protection assessments and rehabilitation work to be undertaken from Monday 1 June 2020 until further notice.

Other picnic areas in Cocoparra National Park are open for use.
