Other planned events: Notice of ongoing 1080 program in Oolambeyan NP

NSW National Park and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from 3 September 2025 to 28 February 2026. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral foxes.

The program will take place in Oolambeyan National Park.

The program is designed to minimise impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of foxes on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Please contact the local Griffith NPWS area office for more information on (02) 6966 8100

Other planned events: Notice of use of Hoggone meSN Feral Pig Bait from 3 September 2025 - South West Woodlands Nature Reserve - Coradgery

Due to a large number of feral pigs causing impacts the Reserve, and to meet NPWS's General Biosecurity Duty, (GBD), under the Biosecurity Act, NPWS will be using Hoggone to control feral pigs.

NPWS pesticides trained staff will be using a new control product to lessen the impacts caused by feral pigs in SWWNR - Coradgery Precinct.

HOGGONE will be used on this Reserve, and the product is a peanut based product with Sodium nitrite as the poison.

This product is very effective on controlling feral pigs and when used carefully has few off-target impacts.

NPWS staff will be monitoring the success of the program and have allowed a 12 week window to undertake several 9 day programs.
