NPWS will be conducting a pest control program by helicopter between 18 and 24 October. The program is for the management of feral pigs and other vertebrate pest animals within Yanga reserves. Some visitor areas are affected and may be closed to the public during the control operations. If poor weather occurs, it may not be possible to undertake the control in some reserves.

Aerial shooting supplements other control measures which can include trapping, mustering, ground shooting and baiting.

NPWS takes a strategic and integrated approach to pest management on lands we manage. We aim to minimise the adverse impacts of pests on biodiversity, cultural values, neighbours, and the community. Only qualified and appropriately trained personnel will participate in this program.

Safety alerts: Traffic Alert - Waugorah Road

There is currently major construction activity in Yanga National Park resulting in increased heavy haulage vehicle activity on the public road leading to Woolpress Bend Campground. Caution should be exercised to allow for this traffic. There are also sections of road-surface damage including bridge approaches. People accessing Woolpress Bend Campground should exercise caution, give way to trucks, and drive to the conditions.

During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as: They're under direct control of an adult The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket) If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Yanga National Park is open Sunrise to Sunset but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

Yanga Homestead Precinct is open 8.30am - 4.30pm.
