The Oxley Highway between Gingers Creek and Mount Seaview Road is closed due to landslides. Travellers are advised to access campgrounds and visitor areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, Werrikimbe National Park and Cottan-Bimbang National Park via Walcha.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program using red meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of Foxes and Wild Dogs.

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting ongoing or continuous aerial and ground baiting programs from Sunday 30 May to Saturday 30 October 2021.

The program will use meat baits, meat bait products and ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. It is designed to minimise the impact of wild dogs and foxes on wildlife and neighbouring stock, especially after the recent extensive bushfires.

All baiting locations will be identified by signs.

Please remember that domestic pets are not permitted on NPWS Estate. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed parks: Most of Guy Fawkes River National Park closed - bushfire damage

Most of Guy Fawkes River National Park is closed due to bushfire damage. 

Upper Ebor Falls is open, so visitors can enjoy the falls, however the Lower Ebor Falls visitor area and escarpment walk from the Upper Ebor Falls to Lower remains closed. This park is fire-affected and facilities within Ebor Falls picnic area have also been affected. 

The section of the Bicentennial National Trail that runs through the Guy Fawkes River National Park will reopen for use on Friday 25 June 2021.

Repair works are underway to replace 2 bridges in the Breinerville precinct that were damaged in the 2019/2020 bushfires.

Other planned events: Temporary detour for accessing park via Moses Rock Road

If you're accessing Codhole or Platypus Flat campgrounds via Cascade, be aware that a section of Moses Rock Road in Wild Cattle Creek State Forest will be closed from Monday 19 April to Monday 17 May 2021 to allow for a bridge replacement by Forestry Corporation NSW.

During this time, a 6km single-lane detour will be in place from Moses Rock Road (via Welcome Creek Road, Tramline Road and Cedar Road). The detour will be accessible by 2WD in dry weather only, and will also be used by logging trucks.

There is an alternate route to Platypus and Codhole campgrounds via Moonpar Forest Drive, Bostobrick.

Safety alerts: New England Wilderness Walk - Not suitable during rain or high river levels

The Bellinger River catchment has experienced above average rainfall over the past few months and river levels can rise quickly with rain.  River crossings on the Wilderness Walk become extremely dangerous when river levels rise and walkers may become stranded.

Do not do the walk during periods of high river levels or forecast rainfall.

Check the Bureau of Meteorology for river levels and rainfall before setting off.

NSW National Parks is monitoring foxes and running a 1080 pest management program. Baiting is happening in Yuraygir National Park from Wednesday 1 July 2020 until Wednesday 30 June 2021.

There will be signs at baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks. Pets and working dogs may be affected, and 1080 is lethal to cats and dogs. Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

These programs are run to protect threatened species identified in the NSW Fox Threat Abatement Plan and Saving our Species programs.

We encourage landholders to participate in control programs on private property. Contact North Coast Local Land Services to discuss and arrange programs. Delays may occur due to unsuitable weather conditions.

Vehicle access to Doon Goonge campground and Shannon Creek forest drive is not available. The 2019/20 bushfires have resulted in major landslips on state forest, and two major bridges have been destroyed. To access the campground, use Quartz Road.
