Safety alerts: Notice of 1080 baiting

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial and ground baiting pest management program in this park from Monday 11 October 2021 to Sunday 10 April 2022.

This program is designed to minimise the impact of foxes on wildlife, especially after the recent bushfires, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs and foxes on neighbouring stock. There will be signs at all baiting locations.

The operation will involve the use of meat baits and meat bait products and CPE (ejectors) containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

For further information, please call the Barrington Tops area office on 02 6538 5300.
