Closed areas: Mungo Visitor Centre

Mungo Visitor Centre is closed until further notice. Picnic tables and toilets at the Visitor Centre will be available for use, however the barbecue area remains closed. All visitors need to protect themselves and others. Remember to keep your distance and take all precautions. COVID hygiene is your responsibility.

Park entry fees apply. if you plan on visiting, please ensure you have correct change ($8 per vehicle) and complete the self-registration envelopes available on site. Alternatively, annual park passes can be purchased via the NPWS website (Passes and fees).

Main campground and Belah campground are closed to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. NPWS is working to reopen all campgrounds and accommodations where possible, however, some locations need to remain closed to ensure compliance with the current rules on public gatherings. Mungo Shearers' Quarters are closed until further notice. NPWS are conducting risk assessments at each location before reopening to ensure the health and safety of our visitors and staff. For more information call the NPWS Lower Darling area office on 03 5021 8900.

Other planned events: 1080 fox baiting program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting 1080 ground baiting of foxes in Mungo National Park. The program will run from Monday 25 May 2020 to Friday 12 June 2020. There will be 1080 baiting signs at the entrance to baiting areas. Do not touch baits.

Domestic pets, including dogs, are not permitted in national parks or reserves. 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baits are lethal to domestic dogs and cats. In the event of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance.

  • Mungo National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees: $8 per vehicle per day. Fees are payable through self-registration envelopes outside Mungo Visitor Centre. Different fees apply for commercial tour operators and vehicles with 8 seats or more.
