Safety alerts: Detour on Mungo Drive Tour road

Please be advised there is a detour on Mungo Self Guided Drive Tour Road. 

The Drive Tour will exit via the Turlee Leaghur Road. 

Signage will be in place to provide directions on park.

Closed areas: Pastoral loop road closure for road maintenance

The Pastoral loop road will be closed from Tuesday 24 March 2026 to 30 April 2026 for road maintenance.

This closure may be further extended or removed pending completion of works.

Please be advised a detour will be in place for the Mungo Self-guided Drive Tour during this period (with traffic to exit via the Turlee Leaghur Road).

Signage will be in place to provide directions.

Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, contact the local NPWS office.

Safety alerts: Variable condition of unsealed Council access roads

Council-managed access roads to Mungo National Park are unsealed and in variable condition. Before travelling on any unsealed roads, please check road condition reports for Balranald, Wentworth and Central Darling Shires. Do not travel on closed Council roads.

  • in Mungo National Park in the Murray-Riverina region
  • Mungo National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees: 

    $8 per vehicle per day. Fees are payable through self-registration envelopes outside Mungo Visitor Centre. Different fees apply for commercial tour operators and vehicles with 8 seats or more.
