Take a Great North Walk

Built in 1988 to celebrate Australia’s bicentennial year, the Great North Walk is a challenging 250 km bushwalking track for experienced hikers. Best completed in sections, the walk links Sydney CBD with the Hunter Valley and Newcastle, passing through a number of national parks.

You can also experience the iconic Great North Walk on our series of 10 full-day guided walks. Starting in February and finishing in November each year you’ll explore the rich cultural history and environments of northern Sydney and Hawkesbury sandstone country.
