Fire bans: Park Fire Ban - Coffs Coast area

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, please contact the local park office before using a gas and or electric barbecue or cooker.

Closed areas: Northern section of Dorrigo National Park closed

The northern section of Dorrigo National Park is closed due to very high fire risk until further notice. Penalties apply for non-compliance. The closed areas are:

  • Blackbutt walking track
  • Casaurina Falls circuit
  • Never Never picnic area
  • Red Cedar Falls walking track
  • Rosewood Creek walking track
  • Slingsbys trail and Syndicate Ridge track

All main visitor areas will remain open. The open areas are:

  • Dorrigo Rainforest Centre
  • The Skywalk
  • The Glade picnic area
  • Walking trails originating at Dorrigo Rainforest Centre.

This park is closed due to bushfire. Do not enter the park. This includes Platypus Flat campground, Cod Hole campground and Norm Jolly precinct. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Other planned events: 1080 fox baiting program - Bongil Bongil National Park

Park visitors and residents in the Sawtell and Bundagen areas should be aware that a 1080 fox baiting program is being conducted in Bongil Bongil National Park from Monday 5 August 2019 to Friday 28 February 2020. This program is vitally important to the long-term survival of threatened and endangered shorebirds, such as the little tern.

Dogs are not permitted in NSW national parks. Non-target animals may be affected by 1080 baits. Please ensure that dogs are not exposed to the risk of poison baits.
