NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting an aerial baiting program using fresh meat containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program will be conducted between Monday 19th June and Friday 30 June 2023. Affected parks and reserves include:

Closed areas: Closed areas due to ground pest control operation
The following sections of Beowa National Park will be closed from 4pm to 8am daily, from Monday 5 June to Friday 9 June 2023 for a ground pest control operation:
- Boyds Tower to Saltwater Creek section of Light to light walk
- Mowarry Trig trail, and;
- Mowarry Point trail.
You can still access these areas from 8am to 4pm as well as other sections of Beowa National Park.
This operation will involve ground shooting of feral deer. It aims to reduce the significant impact invasive species have on native plants and animals including threatened species.
Park closure warning signs will be placed at entrances to the shooting area. Do not enter the closed area during shooting periods (4pm to 8am).

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
