Safety alerts: Fire ban - Middle Beach campground

For visitor safety, campfires and solid fuel fires (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) are not permitted at Middle Beach campground or picnic area.

The use of gas-fired, liquid fuel and electrical appliances will be permitted where:

  • The appliance is under the direct control of an adult
  • The appliance is placed or located in an area where there is no combustible material within 2m
  • There is an adequate water supply to extinguish fire, should it start next to the appliances
  • It is not a Total Fire Ban.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a baiting program using fresh meat, manufactured baits and CPEs containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes and wild dogs. The program will be ongoing and continuous from Friday 1 July 2022 to Saturday 30 June 2023.

The baited parks, reserves and state conservation areas include:

  • Araleun Nature Reserve 
  • Badja Swamps Nature Reserve
  • Beowa National Park, formerly Ben Boyd National Park
  • Deua National Park
  • Eurobodalla National Park
  • Gulaga National Park
  • Kooraban National Park
  • Majors Creek State Conservation Area
  • Mimosa Rocks National Park
  • Monga National Park and State Conservation Area
  • South East Forest National Park 
  • Wadbilliga National Park

There will be signs at all baiting locations.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
