Heavy machinery will be operating on Wog Way from Monday 18 January to Friday 12 March 2021. Works will be underway on Wog Way during this time to mitigate the impacts of firebreak construction during the 2019/20 bushfire season.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a baiting program using fresh meat, manufactured baits and CPEs containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes and wild dogs. The program will be ongoing and continuous from Monday 4 January to Friday 4 June 2021.

The baited parks, reserves and state conservation areas include:

  • Ben Boyd National Park
  • Bournda National Park
  • Bournda Nature Reserve

There will be signs at all baiting locations.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed parks: Park closed for bushfire recovery. Recovery and public safety repair works to damaged infrastructure is expected to continue till at least June 2021.

Biamanga National Park is closed due to substantial bushfire recovery works. Do not enter these areas.

Closed parks: Bushfire damage and ground and aerial pest control operation

This park is closed due to significant bushfire damage. The closed areas include:

  • Lake Creek campground
  • Cascades campground
  • Cascades walking track and viewing platform
  • Tuross Falls walking track
  • Wadbilliga Crossing picnic area
  • Wadbilliga Road

We will be reviewing the closures in March 2021 when some areas may be reopened. However it is likely that some areas will remain closed beyond this point. NSW National Parks is also conducting ground and aerial pest control programs as part of the bushfire recovery.

A weed spraying program will take place in the Nungatta section of South East Forests National Park between Saturday 14 November 2020 and Friday 29 January 2021. The areas affected include:

  • Nungatta Creek Road
  • Nungatta Road
  • Baelcoola East trail
  • Nungatta Creek

Waratah Road North in South East Forests National Park is closed due to planned bridge works. You can still access Pheasants Peak track head via Waratah Road South off Coolangubra Forest Way. Safety alerts: No campfires or solid fuel fires at Middle Beach campground

For visitor safety, campfires and solid fuel fires (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) are not permitted at Middle Beach campground or picnic area.

The use of gas-fired, liquid fuel and electrical appliances will be permitted where:

  • The appliance is under the direct control of an adult
  • The appliance is placed or located in an area where there is no combustible material within 2m
  • There is an adequate water supply to extinguish fire, should it start next to the appliances.
  • It is not a Total Fire Ban
