Fox control operations involving shooting may take place on the following beaches between September 2023 and May 2024:

Access tracks and beach entrances will be closed and signposted prior to shooting operations. Please look out for signs stating the beach is closed if you're visiting these beaches. 

Fox control is undertaken by qualified shooters to protect endangered nesting shorebirds and in accordance with shoot plans.

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply.

Some parts of this park are closed from Thursday 17 August to Tuesday 31 October 2023 while road and track works take place on Old Coast Road. The closed areas are:

  • Pebbly Beach to Durras Mountain.

  • Murramarang National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $8 per vehicle per day. The park has pay machines - cash and credit cards accepted. Card only at Pretty Beach.
