Fire bans: NSW NPWS Riverina Area - Solid Fuel Fire Ban (SFFB) Commences October 9, 2023

A park fire ban is in place in the parks in the Riverina Area from midnight Sunday October 8, 2023 and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

All campgrounds in the Murrumbidgee Valley National Park, MIA 1 Precinct are closed. 

Hazardous tree removal works will be undertaken between 9:00am Wednesday 29 November and 5:30pm Saturday 2nd December. 

These campgrounds will re-open as soon as it is safe. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Safety alerts: Potential for Unexploded Ordinances in Livingstone National Park

There is a Substantial risk of unexploded ordinances (UXO) within Livingstone National Park.

There is signage erected at all entrances to the risk area.

If you are driving, bushwalking or mountain biking in the area, you must keep to the formed trails within the UXO risk area. No camping or digging of any kind is permitted within the risk area.

The following campgrounds are closed due to recent flood damage: 

  • Narrandera North - Koalas Hut 

Flood damage includes, eroded river banks, washouts and sinkholes making it hard to access the campgrounds. 

These areas will re-open as soon as they are safe.
