The NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a 1080 (Sodium fluoroacetate) baiting program targeting Feral Pigs in Burrinjuck Nature Reserve. This program is aimed at protecting the endangered Crimson spider orchid which is present in the reserve. It is also recognised that feral pigs can have significant impacts on surrounding agricultural enterprises. The program is scheduled to commence on Thursday 1st October 2026 and conclude by Wednesday 14th October 2026.
The control sites are located within the reserve, and all baiting locations will be signposted. This program complements aerial shooting and trapping programs run by NPWS in Burrinjuck Nature Reserve.
Domestic pets are not permitted on NPWS Estate. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs should be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Pryor's Hut is temporarily closed to ensure public safety while maintenance works are undertaken to remove asbestos.

Closed areas: Closure KNP5 road at Tumut Ponds - Snowy Hydro works
KNP5 Road at Tumut Ponds will be closed between 16th September and 9th October for Snowy Hydro Maintenance work. There is no vehicle through-access across Tumut Ponds Dam on the KNP5 during the closure period. Access between Cabramurra and Khancoban during this period is via Elliott Way, Tooma Road and Alpine Way.

Transport for NSW are conducting maintenance works on the bridge on the Snowy Mountains Highway next to Yarrangobilly Village campground between Tuesday 15 September 2026 and Saturday 27 February 2027.
A section of Yarrangobilly Village campground on the north-east side of the bridge will be closed for the duration of the works. There may be increased noise from machinery and equipment during this time.

Blue Waterholes campground is closed until Friday 27th November 2026 for significant upgrades. Alternative campgrounds include Magpie Flat campground and Cooleman Mountain campground. Public access will still be permitted to Blue Waterholes day use area to access Clarke and Nichols Gorge walking tracks

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be continuing the ongoing pest control program using Meat Baits and Canid Pest Ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes in Black Andrew Nature Reserve.
The program will be on going within Black Andrew NR between the 11th of September 2026 and the 11th of March 2027.
The baiting location will be identifiable by signs.

The program will take place in Kosciuszko National Park and Clarkes Hill, Bogandyera and Jingellic Nature Reserves.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Other planned events: Ongoing increased traffic and roadworks
There is an increase in heavy and light vehicle movements on the Snowy Mountains Highway (between Cooma to Tumut) and Link and Tantangara Roads within Kosciuszko National Park. This traffic will continue for a number of years and involves the use of specialised heavy vehicle combinations for transporting materials associated with the Snowy 2.0 project and other projects in the region.
There will also be ongoing maintenance and upgrades to roads in the area as part of the project, particularly along Link and Tantangara Roads.

Closed areas: Tantangara Reservoir partial closure
Some parts of Tantangara Reservoir will be closed intermittently due to Snowy 2.0 construction activities involving controlled blasts. Full exclusion zones will be established prior to and during blast operations. The areas affected are:
- Tantangara Reservoir adjacent to the Snowy 2.0 construction site and Reservoir boat ramp, adjacent to the Tantangara Dam wall may have intermittent closures due to construction activities.

Safety alerts: 4WD access in Brindabella National Park
Trails in Brindabella National Park can be extremely challenging in all weather conditions. Steep gradients, loose surfaces, and limited traction make access difficult in both wet and dry conditions.
Caution is advised if you are travelling to the following areas:
- McIntyres Campground
- Lowells Flat Campground
- Flea Creek Campground and Picnic area.
Access to both McIntyres and Lowells Flat Campground, requires a high-clearance 4WD vehicle with low-range capability, off-road tyres and a driver with 4WD experience.
There is very limited to no mobile phone reception in these areas to call for assistance. Recovery, if required, will be difficult and costly.
Trail closures may occur at short notice. Always check the NPWS website for updates before travelling.
Plan ahead and drive safely.
