Fire bans: Park Fire Ban - The Rock NR - Kengal Aboriginal Place

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

There are Gas BBQs provided at the Rock NR.

Closed areas: Burrandana Access to Livingstone NP closed for road works

Grass tree trail between Burrandana Rd and Livingstone State Conservation Area will be closed for roadworks until the 26th of until April 2024.

 

Livingstone NP and Livingstone SCA can only be accessed from the Northern entry via Wrigleys Rd during this time.

Safety alerts: Bridge Closed - Millewa River Road

Millewa River Road is CLOSED from the entrance at Millewa Road intersection to Clay Island Road intersection due to "Black & White" Bridge being unsafe for vehicles.

A detour is in place to direct traffic along Fisherman's Bend road to the east for access to the Murray Valley National Park and the Murray River.

Please follow signage as penalties do apply.

The following campgrounds will be CLOSED until further notice, due to flood damage.

  • MIA 1 - Catfish Corner (eroded bank)
  • Uri - All campgrounds 

Flood damage includes, eroded river banks, washouts and sinkholes making it hard to access the campgrounds and unsafe to camp.

As a safety precaution the Whymoul precinct campgrounds in the Murray Valley National Park are closed due to recent wet weather and flooding.

Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters, so you’ll need to reschedule your visit and avoid travel through areas in this park. Check Live Traffic NSW for up-to-date information about road closures. For assistance during severe weather visit the NSW SES website. In life-threatening situations call emergency services on Triple Zero (000).

Closed areas: Western end of Tin Mines Trail closed for roadworks Woomargama National Park

The western end of the Tin Mines 4wd track (Ferndale boundary through to Tin Mines campsite) will be closed for up to 3 months to allow substantial roads works to be completed. Heavy machinery will be undertaking remedial works and spreading road base to provide a stable track for future management and visitor use. The track will be open to walkers and bicycles on weekends and public holidays during this period unless otherwise notified.

Road closure signage will be placed at each end of the closure.

Safety alerts: Potential for Unexploded Ordinances in Livingstone National Park

There is a Substantial risk of unexploded ordinances (UXO) within Livingstone National Park.

There is signage erected at all entrances to the risk area.

If you are driving, bushwalking or mountain biking in the area, you must keep to the formed trails within the UXO risk area. No camping or digging of any kind is permitted within the risk area.

A baiting program using meat baits and canid pest ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison will be conducted from Wednesday 1 November 2023 to the Wednesday 1 May 2024 in the following parks:

  • Bogandyera Nature Reserve
  • Jingellic Nature Reserve
  • Clarkes Hill Nature Reserve
  • Kosciuszko National Park (southern precinct)

Affected areas of the southern precinct of Kosciuszko National Park include:

  • Geehi Walls and Major Clews trails
  • Indi and Tiger trails
  • The Khancoban/Cabramurra Road
  • Yellow Bog Road
  • Greg Greg trail
  • Tooma River trail
  • Everards trail
  • Spring Flat Creek trail
  • Maragle

Entry into baiting locations will be identified by signs.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
