Closed areas: Walking tracks closed due to severe damage from ex-tropical cyclone Alfred

The following walking tracks are closed until 30 June 2025 due to extensive damage caused by ex-tropical cyclone Alfred:

  • Wonga walk (excluding section from Lyrebird Link to The Glade), Dorrigo National Park
  • Crystal Showers Falls walk, Dorrigo National Park
  • Red Cedar Falls walking track, Dorrigo National Park
  • Never Never picnic area, Dorrigo National Park
  • Casuarina Falls circuit, Dorrigo National Park
  • Blackbutt walking track, Dorrigo National Park
  • Rosewood Creek walking track, Dorrigo National Park
  • Norman Jolly picnic area and Coachwood loop track, Nymboi-Binderay National Park

Closed parks: National Parks closed due to ex-tropical cyclone Alfred

For safety, many national parks and reserves from the QLD/NSW border to the Hastings River at Port Macquarie are closed until Friday 21 March due to damage caused by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Areas will be opened once inspections, and any necessary works, are completed. Public access roads through parks will not be affected by park closures.

Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Check Live Traffic NSW for up-to-date information. Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters.

For assistance during severe weather visit the NSW SES website. In life-threatening situations call emergency services on Triple Zero (000).

Slingsbys trail is closed until further notice due to severe flooding causing damage to infrastructure (bridge).

The western part of Syndicate walking track is closed from Tuesday 16 January  2024 until further notice. NPWS staff are working to assess the damage and repair options. The area will reopen when safe.
