Ugly Corner Falls walking track is currently closed until further notice, due to flood damage sustained in recent weather events.

Closed areas: Road closure

Some areas of this park are closed until further notice due to the demolition of a bridge from a past flooding event.

The closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.

Please note:

  • Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.
  • Bellbird campground, Coombadjha campground and the Granites lookout and picnic areas are accessible.

Closed areas: Roadworks and heavy equipment in park

Roads in this park will be closed to public access due to roadworks happening on Joes Box Road, South Yabbra Road, Yabbra Plains Road and Pocupar Road. Most of the works are happening on management trails that are not open to visitors, but other roads in this area will be affected by heavy equipment. The work includes vegetation management, grading and haulage. It is expected to be complete by early December 2021, weather dependant.

Closed parks: Bandahngan Aboriginal Area closed

Bandahngan Aboriginal Area is closed to the public for a major upgrade of facilities and safety works and is expected to re-open in early 2022. A cultural heritage assessment and review of facilities for the reserve will also occur.
