Other incidents: Mount Canobolas SCA Road Closures

Cabonne Council will be closing road access to the summit of Mount Canobolas State Conservation Area and Federal Falls Campground from Tuesday 1pm, 24 June 2025 until deemed safe, due to the current weather forecast.

Roads affected:

- Mount Canobolas Road (from Old Canobolas Road to summit)

- Towac Way

- Mitchells Way

Pedestrian Access is permitted past gates.

Twice daily inspections will be undertaken and once the road is deemed safe, it will be re-opened.

Safety alerts: Ongoing Poison 1080 ground baiting program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a ground baiting program using Canid Pest Ejectors (CPE) that contain 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes.

The program will be ongoing between 1 March 2025 and 31 August 2025 along management trails in Mount Canobolas State Conservation Area.

Readily identifiable 1080 poison signs have been positioned at trail entry points or trail junctions throughout the reserve.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs should be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
