Closed parks: Park closed due to rainfall

Both Toorale & Gundabooka National Park and State Conservation areas are closed due to the current rain event. 

 

We will update when the park is accessible and safe. 

 

The scheduled reopening is February 2nd but weather permitting this may be adjusted.

Safety alerts: Road Safety advice for Toorale Rd & Ben Lomond Rd

Due to recent rain the Council Roads have become damaged. 

 

Please take care when accessing Toorale & Gundabooka as the roads have potholes, wheel ruts and are severely rough in parts. 

 

Please monitor the Bourke Shire Council Road Condition Report on their website.

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Closed areas: Coach and Horses campground closed due to flooding

Coach and Horses campground is closed indefinitely due to flooding of the Darling River below Louth and Tilpa. The campground is expected to remain closed until the end of June 2023.  The closure will be updated as conditions change.
