NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a weed control program at Snapper Headland and Jerusalem Creek in Bundjalung National Park from Tuesday 18 May until Wednesday 19 May 2021.

The operation will involve hand-pulling and spraying of Metsulfuron Methyl and Glyphosate herbicides for the control of bitou bush, glory lily, lantana and other environmental weeds. For further information email the NPWS Richmond River area office or call 02 6627 0200.

Closed areas: Campsites and walking track temporary closure

Some parts of this park are closed from Tuesday 15 June to Friday 25 June while Jerusalem Creek walking track is being upgraded. The closed areas are:

  • Jerusalem Creek walking track
  • Jerusalem Creek mouth remote campsites 50 and 51 in Black Rocks Campground Precinct

Sites 1-49 in Black Rocks Campground Precinct will remain open. The Jerusalem Creek paddle route will remain open.

Safety alerts: Jerusalem Creek walking track and paddle route

Jerusalem Creek received 400mm of rainfall recently. Please note:

  • The waters of Jerusalem Creek are currently dangerous for swimming and boating, especially near the creek mouth due to high velocity runoff.
  • Jerusalem Creek walking track is flooded in low lying areas and very muddy.

These areas remain open, however park visitors should be cautious. Please assess your ability and preparedness before entering the Jerusalem Creek area of Bundjalung National Park.

There will be F-35A and F/A-18F Super Hornet military training operations over the Evans Head Air Weapons Range on the following dates:

  • Monday 22 February to Friday 26 February 2021
  • Monday 22 March to Friday 2 April 2021 (only 1 or 2 days)
  • Monday 17 May to Friday 21 May 2021

Visitors can expect some loud noise over Bundjalung National Park on the above dates while the aircraft are training.  Days of operations on the range can change due to weather or other operational considerations, so aircraft will not use the range every day of the scheduled operations. For more information, call the NPWS Alstonville office on 02 6627 0200.
