Safety alerts: Moira precinct Partial Road closure - Coolmon Rd between Poverty Point Rd and Swifts Rd

A portion of Coolamon Road, between Swifts Rd and Poverty Point Rd is closed. Due to major works this portion will be closed in Moira precinct of the Murray Valley National Park until Friday16th October 2026.

Closed parks: Murray Valley National and Regional Parks closed due to flooding

The following Murray Valley National & Regional Parks are CLOSED due to flooding:

  • Woperana precinct campgrounds
  • Boomanoomana precinct campgrounds
  • Mulwala precinct campgrounds
  • Cottadidda campgrounds Ngawe Beach, Murray Park, Toms Beach, The Pines, Quicks beach, Kerrs beach, Homestead campground and Backhouse Beach campgrounds.

Closures will be in place until further notice.


Remember, it's never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters. For assistance during severe weather visit the NSW SES website. In life-threatening situations call emergency services on Triple Zero (000).

Other planned events: Ongoing Poison 1080 Ground Baiting Program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a ground baiting program using Canid Pest Ejectors (CPE) that contain 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes. The program will be ongoing, located along management trails in Oolambeyan National Park.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs should be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed parks: Notice of 1080 aerial baiting operation

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program in Lachlan Valley National Park (Hunthawang Precinct) from Monday 24 August 2026 to Saturday 29 August 2026. Hunthawang Precinct will be closed for this operation. The operation will involve the use of meat baits and meat bait products containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes.

The program is designed to minimise predator impact on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of foxes on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry points to baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks and Reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
