All the practical information you need to know about Yachting Point campground.

Getting there and parking

Yachting Point campground is in the northern precinct of Kosciuszko National Park. To get there:

  • Follow the directions to Tumut Visitor Centre.
  • Then continue for approximately 31km south along Snowy Mountains Highway.
  • The campground is adjacent to the highway next to the dam.


There's an informal gravel carpark at the campground. You can also park next to your campsite.


  • Water is not available. Dam water can be used but should be boiled before drinking.
  • There are no rubbish bins. Don't empty rubbish or caravan fluids into drop toilets. Please carry out what you carry in.
  • Firewood is not provided.

Step-free access

There's step-free access around the campground but there are no pathways. You'll need to cross over hard-packed ground and grass to reach the campground's facilities.

Disability access level - medium

This campground is mostly flat and there's step-free access to the campsites and facilities but there are no pathways. You'll need to cross over hard-packed ground and grass to get around the campground.

There's are non-flush toilets at the campground, but they're not accessible or ambulant. People with reduced mobility may require assistance.



A current NSW recreational fishing licence is required when fishing in all waters.




Flying a drone for recreational purposes is prohibited in this area. Drones may affect public enjoyment, safety and privacy, interfere with park operations, or pose a threat to wildlife. See the Drones in Parks policy.

This area may be a declared Drone Exclusion Zone, or may be subject to Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) rules for flying near airports, aerodromes and helicopter landing sites. See CASA's Drone Flyer Rules.

Commercial filming and photography

Commercial filming or photography is prohibited without prior consent. You must apply for permission and contact the local office.
