Closed areas: Mulwala, Cottadidda, Boomanoomana and Barooga precincts closed temporarily due to minor flooding

Campgrounds will be closed for the following Murray Valley National and Regional Park precincts following flooding and recent wet weather:

- Cottadidda precinct campgrounds

- Barooga precinct campgrounds. The Barooga Ski Beach Picnic Area remains open.

 

Closures will be in place until further notice.

Murray Valley National & Regional Park, Barooga precinct will be closed for camping and visitors from 29 June 2026 until 04 September 2026 due to Fire Access and Fire Trail maintenance works.

Swifts Creek Campground will be closed to visitors due to infrastructure upgrades in the area and an increase in heavy vehicle traffic through the campground.

The campground will be closed to bookings during select dates:

Other planned events: Notice of use of Hoggone meSN Feral Pig Bait - South West Woodlands Nature Reserve - Cookamidgera Precinct from 29 June 2026

Due to a large number of feral pigs causing impacts the Reserve, and to meet NPWS's General Biosecurity Duty, (GBD), under the Biosecurity Act, NPWS will be using Hoggone to control feral pigs.

NPWS pesticides trained staff will be using a new control product to lessen the impacts caused by feral pigs in South West Woodlands Nature Reserve - Cookamidgera Precinct

 

HOGGONE will be used in this reserve, and the product is a peanut based product with Sodium nitrite as the poison. This product is very effective on controlling feral pigs and when used carefully has few off-target impacts.

 

NPWS staff will be monitoring the success of the program, and this program may last a few weeks.

A portion of Coolamon Road, between Swifts Rd and Poverty Point Rd is closed. Due to major works this portion will be closed in Moira precinct of the Murray Valley National Park until May 29, 2026.
