Fire bans: Park fire ban - Tweed-Byron and Richmond River areas
A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult

- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.
Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information about fire bans in parks and reserves including your responsibilities, visit the NSW National Parks fire safety page.

Other planned events: Fox control program
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be doing 1080 ground baiting for foxes in Brunswick Nature Reserve (north).
The baiting program will run from 29 October 2019 to 10 December 2019. It will reduce the impact of the European red fox on threatened species including beach stone curlew and pied oystercatcher. The fox control program is part of the NSW Saving our Species Program.
There will be 1080 warning signs at the authorised access points to the baiting location. Don't touch baits or ejector devices.
Domestic pets, including dogs, are not permitted in national parks or reserves. 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baits are lethal to domestic dogs and cats. Please restrain pets and working dogs and ensure they do not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance.
Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information contact the NPWS Tweed Byron area office in Murwillumbah on 02 6670 8600.
