Byron Shire Council is currently undertaking flood restoration works within the Main Arm valley, expected to be completed by mid 2026.
These works include the restoration and repair of culverts and causeways along Main Arm Road, which is the main vehicle access to Mount Jerusalem National Park when approaching from Mullumbimby. Byron Shire Council have advised that Main Arm Road should only be used by local traffic.

Closed areas: Cape Byron walking track section closure
The elevated boardwalk section of the Cape Byron Walking Track will be closed from Monday 20 April to Friday 31 July 2026. Pedestrians will be directed to use a closed lane of Lighthouse Road. Expect short delays.
The east-bound lane of Lighthouse Road will also be closed to vehicles from Monday 20 April to Friday 31 July. Expect traffic delays on Lighthouse Road.

Closed parks: Park closed for road maintenance
Mooball National Park is closed for road repairs between 8 am and 4 pm from Monday 13 April to Friday 29 May 2026 excluding weekends.
During the weekend, the park will be re-opened except Wabba Road and Baranbali Road.
Note that during park closures multiple heavy truck movements are scheduled on Cooradilla Road per day for most of the project.

Safety alerts: Beach access closed due to beach erosion
Coastal processes have eroded the sand dune causing a dangerous drop off. The beach access tracks between Mildenhall Cottage and Imeson Cottage, and from Partridge Cottage, have been closed until further notice. Access to Clarkes Beach is via Brooke Drive and the Pass, or through the Bawaii (Captain Cook) car park and rest area.

Nightcap Range Road is closed to traffic in both directions due to a major landslip associated with the 2022 flood event. The closure affects the section of Nightcap Range Road between Rummery Road intersection and Telephone Road trailer parking area.
Access to Minyon Falls and Rummery Park is via Minyon Falls Road only.
