Closed areas: Scotts Bay - temporary closure

Scotts Bay Road will be closed from 7am on Monday the 15th June to 5pm on Wednesday 17th June  for an operational exercise. There will be no public access during this time. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information please contact Merimbula NPWS office on 6495 5000.

Closed areas: Nunnock Swamp area including Packers Swamp and Dragon Swamp closed for ground pest control operation

The Tantawangalo section of South East Forests National Park will be closed to the public from 8am Monday 15th June to 8am Saturday 27th June 2026 for a ground pest control operation.

The closed areas include:

  • Nunnock campground
  • Nunnock grasslands walking tracks
  • Alexanders Hut
  • Alexanders Hut campground
  • Packers Swamp
  • Dragon Swamp

This operation will involve ground shooting of deer and feral pigs during day time or night as required. It aims to reduce the significant impact invasive species have on native plants and animals including threatened species. Other pest animals, including foxes and wild dogs may be targeted if observed during the operation.

Park closure warning signs will be placed at entrances to the shooting area. Do not enter the closed area during shooting periods Penalties apply for non-compliance.

The following campgrounds will remain open to the public:

  • Six Mile Creek campground
  • Postmans campground

Closed areas: Green Cape Cottages and Telegraph Station closed

Some parts of Beowa National Park are closed until 31 December 2026 while NPWS undertake refurbishment works. The closed areas are: 

  • Green Cape Lightstation Keepers' Cottages
  • Telegraph Station accommodation

Green Cape carpark, lookout and surrounding walking tracks remain open during this time.

Closed areas: Hobart Beach Campground Closure

Hobart Beach Campground is closed from Sunday the 19th April 2026 to Friday 13th November for campground upgrade works. Bournda Beach is still accessible from the ocean beach carpark at the end of Bournda road, and from the Bournda Lagoon day use area, except during the temporary closure for staircase replacement in April.  Obey all signage and closures. Other planned events: Notice of 1080 ongoing baiting program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Thursday 1 January 2026 to Tuesday 30 June 2026. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and/or foxes.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species and will take place in:

  • Araluen Nature Reserve
  • Badja Swamps Nature Reserve
  • Beowa National Park
  • Berlang State Conservation Area
  • Bondi Gulf Nature Reserve
  • Bournda National Park
  • Bournda Nature Reserve
  • Coolumbooka Nature Reserve
  • Deua National Park
  • Eurobodalla National Park
  • Kooraban National Park
  • Majors Creek State Conservation Area
  • Mimosa Rocks National Park
  • Monga National Park and State Conservation Area
  • South East Forest National Park
  • Wadbilliga National Park

Signs will be placed at the entry to baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands.

Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Kanoonah Road (north) closed due to landslip

Kanoonah Road in Coolangubra section of South East Forests National Park is closed from Myanba Falls Road through to the northern park boundary due to a major landslip.
