Temporary closure of roads connected to Skid Ridge Road, Murramarang NP

Several roads connected to Skid Ridge Road near South Durras will be closed for hazard reduction burning from Tuesday 9 March to Wednesday 10 March 2021. Penalties apply for non-compliance. This burn is called Durras South HR. For more information, contact the local NPWS office or visit the Rural Fire Service website.

Other planned events: 1080 pest management program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a baiting program using fresh meat, manufactured baits and CPEs containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes. The program will be ongoing and continuous from Monday 22 February to Wednesday 30 June 2021.

The baited parks, reserves and state conservation areas include:

  • Seven Mile Beach National Park
  • Comerong Island Nature Reserve
  • Jervis Bay National Park
  • Woollamia Nature Reserve
  • Conjola National Park
  • Narrawallee Creek Nature Reserve
  • Meroo National Park
  • Murramarang National Park

There will be signs at all baiting locations.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

While most of Murramarang National Park is open, the following areas are closed due to fire damage and hazardous conditions:

  • Pebbly Beach campground
  • All walks between Pretty and Pebbly Beach including Mount Durras.
