Closed areas: Area closed for track upgrade

The Little Forest Walking Track is closed while repairs are being undertaken.

Access to Rusden Head and Florence Head is still open, however 4WD is recommended.

Porters Creek Dam Road in Morton National Park will be closed for maintenance from Monday 12 December to Friday 16 December 2022.

The road will be closed from the T intersection with the start of Mt Bushwalker Road.

As a result all walks at Porters Creek Dam, Little Forest, Rusden Head and Florence Head will not be accessible for this period.

Safety alerts: Night-time fox control along beaches

Please be aware night shooting of foxes may occur in the following beaches in the coming months to protect nesting shorebirds:

Fox control is undertaken by qualified shooters in accordance to shot plans between August and March to protect endangered nesting shorebirds.

Access tracks and beach entrances will be closed and signposted prior to shooting operations. Please look out for signage stating the beach is closed if accessing these beaches after dark.

Closed areas: Roads closed due to flood damage

The following roads are closed due to adverse weather, flood damage and road repairs:

  • Romney Park Road
  • Lake Road
  • Burrill Lake Drive - West
  • Burrill Lake Drive - East
  • Munno Road
  • Western Road

Because these roads are closed, vehicles cannot access the following visitor areas:

  • Burrill Lake Western Arm picnic area
  • Burrill Lake East picnic area
  • Giriwa walking track
  • Gari walking track

Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters, so you’ll need to reschedule your visit and avoid travel through areas in this park. Check Live Traffic NSW for up-to-date information about road closures. For assistance during severe weather visit the NSW SES website. In life-threatening situations call emergency services on Triple Zero (000).

Due to ongoing wet weather, roads and tracks in Conjola National Park are in very poor condition. As a result, some roads may be impassable and a 4WD vehicle is recommended for open roads. 

The closed​​ roads include:

  • Grasstree Road
  • Goonawarra Drive
  • Berrara Road
  • Fishermans Rock road
  • Boundary road

Roadworks will commence in October 2022 and be ongoing into 2023. Expect short delays and road closures across the parks' road network due to these roadworks.

Other planned events: Notice of 1080 pest management baiting program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a baiting program using fresh meat, manufactured baits and CPEs containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes and wild dogs. The program will be ongoing and continuous from Friday 1 July to Saturday 31 December 2022.

The baited parks, reserves and state conservation areas include:

  • Conjola National Park
  • Meroo National Park
  • Murramarang National Park
  • Narrawallee Creek Nature Reserve

There will be signs at all baiting locations.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

  • in Morton National Park in the South Coast and Country NSW regions
  • Morton National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

    Parts of the south-eastern area of this park were once used for military training and may contain unexploded artillery shells. These areas have restrictions in place for your safety.

  • Park entry fees: 

    Fitzroy Falls: $4 per vehicle per day. Bundanoon area: $8 per vehicle per day. The park has pay and display machines - cash and cards accepted.
