NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program using meat and manufactured bait products containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes. The program will be conducted between Tuesday 10 August 2021 and Monday 28 February 2022 in this reserve.

The baiting area will be identifiable by signs.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

It will be ongoing between Sunday 15 August 2021 and Monday 28 February 2022 in Bongil Bongil National Park. The program is being undertaken to protect threatened shorebirds.

The baiting area will be identifiable by signs.

Other planned events: Bridge repairs on Hunters Road

Hunters Road will be closed between September and November 2021, so that 3 old timber bridges on Hunters Road can be replaced with concrete and steel bridges.

During this time, there will be alternative access to Cows with Guns mountain bike track via Mailmans track or Valery Road.

Closed areas: Diggers Beach middle platform closed due storm damage

The Diggers Beach middle platform is closed due to storm damage that has exposed the foundations. The structure will be assessed by an engineer and repairs scheduled.
