Moses Rock Road will be closed all day on Tuesday 14 July 2020 due to bridge works.

Access to and from Platypus Flat and the Cod Hole will be from Moonpar Forest Drive in the west via Bostobrick, not via Cascade.

Closed areas: Road and trail closures

Some roads in this park are closed until 8am, Monday 31 August 2020. The closure is due to ongoing safety works, steep slippery clay surfaces and high tree risk.

The closed areas are:

  • Kilprotay Road
  • O'Neils Road
  • Postman's trail

Safety alerts: Asbestos risk on New England Wilderness walk

On the Brinerville section of the Wilderness walk there are several buildings destroyed by bushfire that contain asbestos. These sites are identified with warning signs. Walkers must not approach any destroyed buildings due to the risks from burnt/friable asbestos. The asbestos will be removed in the coming months as part of bushfire recovery works.

Other incidents: Notice of 1080 baiting

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting ongoing aerial and ground baiting programs in this park from Tuesday 23 June to Tuesday 22 December 2020. This program will use meat baits, meat bait products and ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

This program is designed to minimise the impact of foxes on wildlife, especially after the recent extensive bushfires, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs and foxes on neighbouring stock.

All baiting locations will be identified by signs. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks and Reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

The program will be conducted between Friday 12 June and Friday 10 July 2020 in Deervale Nature Reserve, Junuy Juluum Nature Reserve, Cascade National Park, Bindarri National Park and Dorrigo National Park.

All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.
