Thredbo Valley fishing experiences

Summer fishing in the crystal-clear waters of the Thredbo River is an unforgettable experience. Learn the basics of fly fishing on a tour, surrounded by the beauty of the Thredbo Valley. Visit Gaden Trout Hatchery. Hire or bring your own waders, rods, flies and lures (no bait fishing) and see if the rainbow and brown trout are biting. There are top fishing spots easily accessed from Thredbo village, Ngarigo and Thredbo Diggings campgrounds, Bullocks Flat and Thredbo River picnic area.

You’ll need a current NSW recreational fishing licence to fish in all waters.

Thredbo River fly fishing tour

Cast a line into crystal clear Thredbo River on a guided Snowy Monaro Fly Fishing tour. Spend a full or half day trout fishing in Kosciuszko National Park. Great for beginners and experienced fly fishers.

See NSW recreational fishing fees and regulations

You’ll need a current NSW recreational fishing licence to fish in all waters. Fishing season runs between the October and June long weekends in Kosciuszko National Park. The Thredbo River is a declared ‘Trout Spawning Stream’, so there’s a 1 fish per angler, per day limit. Minimum size 50cm. Or, enjoy catch and release all day.
