In areas where stay-at-home orders have been lifted, most campgrounds and accommodation will reopen for bookings after 11 September. Those in LGAs under stay-at-home orders will remain closed to arrivals. Most parks are open for exercise but may close at short notice. Check NPWS alertsfor latest park closure information.
Enjoy an outback picnic at Many Big Rocks picnic area (Karnu Yalpa) in Toorale National Park, near Bourke. You can also birdwatch or fish by the banks of the Darling River, under a shady coolibah tree.
The visitor centre is on your left as you enter the Mutawintji Park. It is unstaffed, but provides a general introduction to the park for visitors. It is also a good place to stop and get your bearings and use the facilities.
Before you head to Paroo-Darling National Park, why not stop and spend a little while at the visitor centre. Pick up a map, read useful information about the park, and relax at the sheltered picnic areas before you start your journey.
