All the practical information you need to know about the Willis picnic area.

Getting there and parking

Willis picnic area is in the southern (Lower Snowy) precinct of Kosciuszko National Park. To get there from Snowy Region Visitor Centre:

  • Drive 1.5km along Kosciuszko Road
  • Turn left onto Barry Way and drive 70.3km south
  • Turn right into the Willis picnic area carpark, immediately adjacent to Barry Way.

There's a hard-packed ground carpark at the picnic area.

There's an accessible non-flush toilet that can you can reach along a gravel path from the carpark.

There's an accessible picnic table set directly into the ground. You'll need to cross over hard-packed ground to reach it.

Carpark

Step-free access

The picnic area is step-free, but the ground is uneven and sloped. The slopes have a maximum gradient of 1:14. People with reduced mobility may need assistance to get around if not on the picnic area's pathways.

There's a gravel path to the toilets and an informal hard-packed ground and grass path to the river.

The picnic area is step-free and there are outdoor pathways to the toilets and the river, but the ground is uneven and sloped. People with reduced mobility may need assistance to get around the picnic area when not on the pathways.

There is an accessible toilet and picnic table.

The picnic area has a hard-packed ground carpark, but there are no designated accessible parking spots.

Fishing

A current NSW recreational fishing licence is required when fishing in all waters.

Prohibited

Drones

Flying a drone for recreational purposes is prohibited in this area. Drones may affect public enjoyment, safety and privacy, interfere with park operations, or pose a threat to wildlife. See the Drones in Parks policy.

This area may be a declared Drone Exclusion Zone, or may be subject to Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) rules for flying near airports, aerodromes and helicopter landing sites. See CASA's Drone Flyer Rules.

Commercial filming and photography

Commercial filming or photography is prohibited without prior consent. You must apply for permission and contact the local office.

Gathering firewood

Firewood is not supplied and may not be collected from the park.

Pets

Smoking
